India offers a wide scope of subjects for photography from faces to monuments, wildlife, festivities, scenic beauty, etc.

In most of the public places and places of worship photography is allowed. Some of the places you have pay to bring in a camera. The tickets for video cameras are much more than photo cameras and it almost always higher than the entrance fee.

Formalities mainly concern protected monuments and the wildlife sanctuaries.

  • Special permission of the Archaeological Survey of India, New Delhi, is required for use of tripod and artificial light to photograph monuments

  • Photography in the wildlife sanctuaries is allowed on payment of a prescribed fee. Photography is prohibited in tribal areas.
