Bushu or Hangsao – Manauba is a festival of the Dimasa Kacharis who lives mostly in the northern half of the North Cachar Hills. They are said to be the earliest inhabitants of the Brahmaputra Valley. Music and dance play an important role in the day-to-day life of the Dimasa Kacharis.

Bushu of Buhsu Jiba is an important festival of the Dimasa Kacharis and is a harvesting festival celebrated with pomp and grandeur in the last week of January after the paddy are harvested, thrashed and stored in the granaries.

Feasting and merrymaking with socio-cultural activities are the main attraction of the festival.

Traditional sports called 'Rimin-Nehlaiba' (two opponents trying to push each other holding a wooden bar by hands below the armpit) and 'Longthai-suguba' (lifting of heavy stones ) etc. are played. Also competitions on cultural dances, folk songs, folktales etc. are held during the festival.

The dancing group also performs in honor of the village chief or any invited quest which is known as 'Bai-sengna'. As a token of appreciation the honoured guest offers some 'present' to the group.
