The Amsterdam photographer Annelies Rigter whose documentary work as well as travel coverages on far away countries and cultures are published in many national and international magazines, has a great reputation on photography. She loves dynamic and unexpected situations that appear on her journeys. She has always been fascinated by India. She visited the country many times and was married to an Indian with whom she has two daughters. So she came very close to Indian society and spirit.

The photographs depicted on this website are part of the exhibition about India held in gallery "de Melkweg" in Amsterdam during July and August 2004.

Some of her work is in the collection of The Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.

The famous picture of the bathing Saddhu's on the stairs of the Ganges is purchased by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

From this collection of photographs a magnificent booklet has been printed in limited numbers under auspices of Kodak. It is possible to acquire this unique booklet via Annelies Rigter's e-mail address.

Annelies Rigter also specializes in portraits and marriage photography in which she has a vast experience. In the Netherlands she photographed several Hindu marriages, children and families.
