CICAT is the central liaison office of the Delft University of Technology (TUDelft) providing its faculties and departments with management support in the field of development cooperation activities. The activities implicate long lasting cooperation projects with universities and research organizations in Africa, Asia, Latin-America and to some extend in Eastern Europe.

Most of the projects are currently financed by the MHO programma (co-financing programme for Higher Education), which is administered and coordinated by the NUFFIC and financed by the Dutch Minister of Development Cooperation. The main emphasis for these projects is on staff development, laboratory upgrading and research training. Staff development is partly carried out on the job by long term experts, together with training periods in the Netherlands. Research as such is the main interest for the DUT faculties and departments. Wherever possible a project is linked with ongoing research at departmental level. Some of the projected completed by CICAT in Inida in coperation with Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT)are:

• Environmental Management and Engineering (EME)
• Rural Development & Appropriate Technology (RUDAT)
• Information Policy Development and Implementation (INFOCUS)
• Integrated Management of Coastal Zones (IMCOZ)

CICAT is currently involved in various projects in Latin-America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
