The Gonda Fund has been established in 1992 under the auspices of the Royal Dutch Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) and has the task of administering the inheritance bequeathed to the Academy by the Sanskritist and Indologist Professor J. Gonda who died in 1991.
The aim and objective of the Gonda Fund is to stimulate the scientific research of the Sanskrit and other related Indian languages, literature and Indian art history.
Every year The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences organises the Gonda Lecture. Under the auspices of Gonda Fund the Egbert Forsten Publishing published two series: Groningen Oriental Studies and the Gonda Indological Studies.
