Laokhowa Wildlife Sanctuary
Covering an area of 70.13 sq. kms Laokhowa Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in Nagaon District of Assam. It is about 25 km from Nagaon and is located on the southern bank of Brahmaputra River - just 40 km downstream from Kaziranga, is also close to Bura-Chapori and Orang Wildlife Sanctuaries.

Laokhowa Wild Life Sanctuary is one of the oldest protected areas of the state which was declared as Game Sanctuary way back in 1922 and a Wild Life Sanctuary in 1979. Till 1983-84 there were 80-100 nos. of rhinos inhabitating in this Sanctuary besides deer, tiger, elephant and different types of birds. As a result of sustained poaching over the past decades the population of rhinos has dwindled to a minimum.

November to March is the ideal time to visit.
