Marwar Festival is a two-day festival and is held annually against the
backdrop of forts and palaces in Jodhpur, the former capital of Marwar
Province. The festival is celebrated in the Hindu month of Ashwin
(Sept-Oct) in Jodhpur.
It is a festival devoted mainly to the music and dance of the Marwar region.
The festival was originally known as the Maand festival.
The Folk artistes of the region sing and dance and bring to
life the myth and legends of the area and sing songs in memory of the
brave heroes.
The bleak desert landscape provided a perfect setting for
the vibrant colours of the costumes of the folk dancers.
Women participate in henna competition, which involves the art of
making intricate designs on palms with henna.

moustache competition for men is one of the highlights of the day
Other attractions of the festival include horse riding, horse polo and
acrobatics by camels.
