Sharadha Raghuraman was born in Madras where she started learning Bharata Natyam at a young age. She teaches Bharata Natyam to many differing in age and nationality in her own school, Noopur. To her credit she has conducted several successful arangetrams (dance-debuts). She has students from Belgium and Germany who are provided the facility to stay with her and learn Bharata Natyam.
She has given numerous performances and conducted many workshops in and outside The Netherlands. An anthropological documentary has also been made about her activities regarding Indian culture and Bharata Natyam in particular.
Sharadha is also very well versed in the technique of playing nattuvangam and has participated in more than 50 performances in Europe.
In 1996 she staged a dance production including over 20 dancers at the famous theatre Diligentia. In 1997 she presented the choreography "Rhythms of India", in 1998 she staged "Fragments from the Ramayana" at the Koninklijke Conservatorium with 28 dancers and in 1999 she staged "Shakti".
Sharadha Raghuraman geeft les aan beginners en gevorderden van verschillende leeftijden. De studenten leren zowel praktische zaken als de theorie van Bharata Natyam. Er zijn ook mogelijkheden voor studenten die in het buitenland wonen om bij haar te verblijven en lessen te volgen.
Elk jaar komen er dansers en studenten uit het buitenland die enige tijd in Nederland verblijven voor het geven van workshops en voorstellingen.
