Wie is toch die doctor/Professor Q? Dr. H.U. Qureshi is fondly addressed by some of his friends as Dr. Q, recently interviewed by WZH for one of their internal publications. As most of his friends know him through As most of his friends know him through FCCI and/or NIA and as this information was lacking in the article,I am adding this small note. "He has been the Secretary General of the Foundation for Critical Choices for India from 1992 till 2014. For a number of years, he was also one of the Executive Board Members of the Netherlands India Association (NIA). Beside FCCI and NIA, he has been associated with many other socio-cultural and academic organisations in India and abroad". In the autumn of his life, he has to seek support of elderly care in one of the residential care centers of WZH, Haaglanden. Herdenking
Hindoestaanse Immigratie georganiseerd door Stichting Saraswati Art Amsterdam Jaarlijks wordt op 5 juni in Suriname de Hindoestaanse immigratie herdacht. Na de afschaffing van de slavernij in 1863 was het Nederlandse koloniale bestuur genoodzaakt nieuwe arbeidskrachten te rekruteren uit Azie, met name India. De nakomelingen van de Hindoestaanse immigranten in Nederland herdenken elk jaar deze historische gebeurtenis omstreeks 5 juni, de dag waarop de eerste Indiase immigrant, voet aan wal zette in Suriname. |
