Akzo Nobel combined its fibre activities with Courtaulds' Fibres and Chemicals and launched the fibre company Acordis in November 1998.

It supplies customers throughout the world with man-made fibres and speciality materials for industrial, textile, medical and hygiene applications.

In India Acordis has the Enka group of companies. The principal activities of the Company are the manufacturing and marketing of polyester filament yarn, nylon tyre fabric, polyester chips, polyester industrial yarn, nylon industrial yarn and nylon filament yarn.
